Seattle's Prince waves goodbye.
Dusk gleamed over the central business district, the fresh sea aroma heightening the senses. A young prince admires the engrained blend of culture, honor, and history associated with this fine city. The aesthetic of blue, green, and silver is proudly displayed on every street, and person, as well as the sun-setting sky. Though the local teams will likely spend another year out of the playoffs, they are revered, nonetheless. To the prince, this was all evident more than ever as he knew this would be the last time he could soak in the atmosphere unique only to Seattle. Soon he would leave, and not before many moons would he get to see the city he came so accustomed to love. The city that helped mold who he would become. However, next time would be through a different lens, a bit older, a bit wiser, and not as innocent as he was then. It brought to him a sort of melancholy.
He quickly brushed it off, refusing to live in grim. He smiled as he saw a man playing guitar. One day he'll learn to play like that. He gets a dollar and drops it in the man's hat. The local venue is playing a Beatles cover band later and he can't wait to dance, dive, and dip to the greatest hits. Maybe if he's lucky, he'll get a shirt after the show. Reflecting on his earlier visit to the Museum of Pop Culture, he thought no music played in Seattle is bad music. The apperception of Rainer was soon saying goodbye for the night. This will be his last glimpse of the PNW's Gigantes Marvel. He recalled when he was younger, the neighborhood watch signs scared him. The creepy black and white person peeking out from behind a tree or through some blinds. He would tell this to his Father, but all his Father replied with was, "It scares me too son, there's a lot of people named Karen in these parts." At that time, he never understood what he meant.
As years passed, the prince grew beyond his years. He learns from his mistakes, always tries to show compassion, smile, see the best in people, but remains keen against manipulation. Today, he continues his evolution. A boy becoming a man holding high all the expectations that are expected. Maybe not the biggest on the team, maybe not the most talented, but he knows a team is a bunch of small pieces that combine to make one. He's just happy to give his contribution as a member of a team. He's seen Seattle and knows what the worst can do to people who aren't part of a team. People who do not have someone to look out for them and they, that do not have someone to look out for.
An endless future awaits. A future of wonder, a share of struggles and adversity, but also excitement, love, and possibilities. He ponders and thinks, that's the thing that's great about Seattle. It displays its highest of highs and simultaneously, its lowest of lows. The combination of both knows any person curious with admiration will respect the fact of life that nothing ever tastes good unless you know the taste of bad.
